Arlington Antebellum Home & Gardens
We fondly remember our incredible collaboration with Magic City Smooth Jazz, led by the late Benard Lockhart, which significantly amplified Autism Awareness in our marginalized communities over many years. Benard’s visionary leadership and commitment to this cause were instrumental in forging this powerful partnership. Through events like the captivating ‘Jazz in the Park’ series, our organizations joined forces to bring the beauty of jazz music and vital Autism Awareness initiatives to the heart of Birmingham’s parks. These vibrant gatherings showcased exceptional talent while providing a platform for our shared mission to reach and support underserved communities.
Although Benard is no longer with us, having passed away in 2020 due to COVID-19, his legacy lives on through the impact of our collaboration. We remain grateful for his tireless dedication and brotherhood, which continues to inspire our work. We will always cherish the memories and accomplishments of our time working together with Benard and Magic City Smooth Jazz, and we honor his memory and will continue to spread Autism Awareness and support our communities.”
Jorys Journey Foundation
JORY’S Journey Foundation’s “Turn Down The Noise” initiative has made a profound impact on students with sensory sensitivities in Birmingham City Schools and Jefferson County School Systems. We’ve provided noise reduction headphones to help create a more inclusive learning environment for students with autism, ADHD, and other sensory processing disorders.
The response from teachers has been overwhelming, with many expressing heartfelt gratitude for our support. They’ve told us that no one has ever gone to such great lengths to address the needs of their students, and that our initiative has brought tears of joy to their eyes. One teacher summed it up perfectly: “The smiles on our students’ faces are all the thanks we need, but we can’t thank you enough for your kindness and dedication.”
For us, there’s no greater reward than knowing we’re making a real difference in the lives of these incredible students.
